Safe training – in a Mystery School such as the Hermetic Academy, it is not a matter of acquiring theories as in a university or secular training programme. Rather, it is about connecting with the wisdom tradition.
A Mystery School is like a vessel into which divine light flows. Through the safe training in a Mystery School, we are connected to this spiritual light. Depending on the maturity of our soul, our individual vessel is able to receive more or less of this light.
We receive instructions that include practical guidance to help us master our lives, get answers to existential questions, better understand our situation and our purpose in life.
It may even be that we already know some of the teachings of the Hermetic Academy, but it is not just about this information. The theories in the lessons serve only as a vehicle to connect us to the Light of the Mystery School.

his is how we are shown the way to enlightenment. The words are a channel to connect us.
Every message we learn in the Hermetic Academy and every exercise we practise only helps us to build this inner connection to the Higher.
It would be detrimental to skip or omit some lessons. It is not just about the information they contain. It is about refining our character so that we are ready to receive the ‘higher’ teachings of the Mystery Tradition.
Practice makes perfect
Skipping some of the lessons and exercises would be like watching a film and fast-forwarding to the end just after the opening credits and only watching the end sequence.
Not only would we miss out on the whole experience, the emotions, the story, the mystery, the connections, etc., but we would also miss out on what makes a film what it is.
The student who just wants to learn some advanced lessons quickly will miss the real wisdom at the beginning. Such students may know many theories, etc., but not the true mechanism of how real spiritual transformation works.
The refinement of character requires several years of training in the Mystery School. We need this refinement so that we can safely apply the advanced content of the Mystery Tradition.
Otherwise, we will hurt ourselves and others with these tools and only cause chaos.
Every person who knocks on the door of a Mystery School has had some prior experience. This may be seminars, books, or other training. This preparation was necessary in order for us to be ready to find the gates of an authentic Mystery School in the first place.
There are many trials and temptations along the way. But as long as we have the most important virtue, “perseverance”, we can make our way to the summit of enlightenment despite all the initial difficulties.
